Central IL Ghost Riders will be having a Cowboy Mounted Shooting club member practice Sat, April 14 @ 1 pm at Coyote Creek Stables Inc in Sigel IL. This is event is free for spectators!
Mounted Shooting is one of the fastest growing equine sports. Mounted contestants compete using two 45 caliber single action revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition. This ammunition has a maximum range of 15-20 feet so it will burst the targets (balloons) but still be safe for spectators. Courses are set in a variety of patterns. The first 5 targets of a course will vary with each stage and requires the horse and rider to stop, turn, change leads, and accelerate rapidly. The second 5 targets called the rundown are usually in a straight course with the targets set at 30 foot intervals. Scoring is based on elapsed time plus any penalties.
Riding Lessons are back in full swing. Currently, I have a few openings for students. Reserve your spot now as I usually have a waiting list, sometimes as long as a year!
Horse Boarding openings are limited as we are nearly full!
